Special Educational Needs or Disabilities
“There is a variety of gifts but always the same spirit: there are all sorts of service to be done but always the same Lord”
(1 Corinthians 12 4-7)
“…. The school – like the church itself – has special responsibility for those who are most in need.”
(The Easter People Sec.136 (1980)).
“Our commitment to Christ’s ministry and to the uniqueness of each individual leaves Catholic schools ideally placed to respond with imagination and sensitivity to those needs. Essential to that task will be a proper respect for the gifts and needs of each individual.”
(Evaluating the Distinctive nature of a Catholic School).
At Ss Alban & Stephen Catholic Junior School we aim to facilitate maximum learning for all children whatever their age, ability, gender, race or background. Our mission statement states that we endeavour to help children become aware of and develop their abilities. It is our aim to provide a balanced curriculum for all, by differentiation and support. We will strive to involve parents and pupils in the decision making process and draw upon the advice of external agencies to provide the best support for children with SEN.
From the 1st September 2014 the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice: 0-25 years came into force, subject to any transitional arrangements. This replaced the 2001 SEN Code of Practice. We have put together detailed information about our arrangements for identifying, assessing and making provision for pupils with SEN in our SEN Information report.
If you have any questions about our provision, please contact our SENCo Mrs Beverstock on 01727 866668, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
