Headteacher’s Newsletter – September 29th 2017

October is upon us once again and it seems as if time has passed by in a heart beat. The week started with a very informative assembly given by representatives from the woodland trust; an organisation we are very happy to be involved with as a school. Mad Science, a company who have worked in schools for many years paid a flying visit on Wednesday morning and rehearsals are underway for next year’s Young Voices concert. The children have begun to settle in to their new class routines and the school is beginning to find a new rhythm to the year. I had the privilege of witnessing some of our new three children and parents joining many others from the school community at Tuesday’s Celebration of Light ceremony. Teacher Parent consultations will take place later on next month and we are in the process of setting up on line appointments using the Parentmail App. Please keep abreast of future dates and events as and when they happen.

The word of the week is CHANGE – Change is a painful process for everyone. To experience real change is to undergo a transformation – something everyone finds challenging. How do you let your love of God shape the changes in your life?

Welcome Fayre – Last week’s Welcome Fayre was a wonder community event. You came in large numbers and helped to raise much needed funds for both schools. Thank you to everyone who supported the fayre, but an extra special mention must go to the PTA and those who helped to set up and pack away.

School Facilities – We are very happy to support parents and families as much as we can. Many of you ask to use the toilets by the office before and after school regularly but please remember the staff room is off limits to parents unless invited by a member of staff. Thank you for your understanding with this important aspect of Health and Safety.

PTA AGM – This important meeting was held on Tuesday evening at The Crown. There was a fair turn out and new officers were elected. The treasurer gave a review of the year and explained how the magnificent sum of over £20,000 was raised for both schools last year. We want to use the funds from the reserves in the PTA account to buy a new set of laptops to replace the ailing ones that are on their last legs. We are also in desperate need to replace all of the interactive whiteboards across the school, many of them are nearly 10 years old and technology has moved on a great deal since they were installed. We will ask the PTA to help fund two / three new boards. One of the development points from last year’s Section 48 RE Inspection, was for a grotto to built in the grounds of the school; an exciting project we want the PTA to be involved with. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and to those of you who support the excellent and invaluable work of the PTA.

Prayer to St Michael

Yesterday was the feast day of the Archangels

Holy Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you,

O Prince of the heavenly host,

by the power of God cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits

who wander through the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!
