Headteacher’s Newsletter – November 11th 2016
Today is Remembrance Day. Children from Year 6 led a very moving assembly for the school this morning. Let us take a minute to read that very famous stanza of poetry by Robert Laurence Binyon – For The Fallen.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
This week’s word is: FAITHFULNESS. We are reminded by St Richard of Chichester that God is faithful, and if we serve him faithfully he will provide for our needs. On this very solemn day how do we know that we serve God faithfully? How do we keep Him close?
Get Your Grown Ups Gardening – The next session of this excellent initiative takes place on Saturday 12th November from 12.00pm through to 2.00pm. We will focus on tidying up the grounds and bedding new plants. We have a hardy perennial group of parents who make up the core of team but it would be very encouraging to see more new faces. All families and children are welcome. Tea, coffee and cakes provided. (WEATHER PERMITTING)
Football – the boys and the girls teams played three matches this week between them and experienced mixed fortunes. The boys were unlucky not to win against Garden Fields and were eventually beaten by one goal to nil whilst the girls bounced back from a two nil defeat against Wheatfields to beat a strong St Bernadette’s side one goal to nil. I’m sure that next win boys is just around the corner. Well done to both teams.
27 MILE CHALLENGE – How many miles have you completed? Are you raising money yet? The next event takes place this Sunday at Nicholas Breakspear gym on Sunday after the 9:30am mass. We look forward to seeing many of you there. The session will run from 10:45am through to 1:00pm.
Thank you to those families who joined together to walk the half mile or so from Morrisons to school along the Alban Way. We meet again next Friday at 8:20am to complete the second of three walks to school. Please make every effort to join us.

We Give Them Back to You
We give them back to you dear Lord,
who gavest them to us.
Yet as thous didst not lose in giving,
so we have not lost them by their return.
For what is thine is ours always, if we are thine.
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
