Headteacher’s Newsletter – Friday 5th May 2017

The summer term rather has begun to gather pace and the business of the term is upon us once again. Both of our football teams played this week and represented the school well and were unfortunate not to make it through to their respective finals. Our Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge Team delivered a very energetic assembly on Friday morning to the whole school and the installation of the new boundary fence has been completed. We wish Year 6 the very best of luck for next week’s SATs tests and we look forward to celebrating with Year 3 at their First Holy Communion masses on Saturday 20th May.

The WORD of the week is – LIFE. This Sunday is Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus is our constant guide and “his voice is unmistakable.” How does he help you to have life to the full?

Crowning of Mary Assembly – This popular assembly was once again well attended on Thursday morning. Members of the Chaplaincy Team led the readings and shared the story of the annunciation whilst members each class placed their crowns around the base of the statue of Our Lady. The children sang beautifully and harmonised to the hymns which added a little extra lift to the assembly. Thank you to everyone who donated flowers and to Mrs Porter for preparing the children.

Girls and Boys Football – Thank you to both teams. They played well in both tournaments this week but were very unfortunate to miss out on a place in their respective finals. It has been a long season that has produced mixed fortunes but you have represented the school well.

Friday 12th May – Skipping Workshops for the whole school – School Disco 6.30pm – 8.30pm ’70s and ’80s theme

Monday 15th May – SRE Workshop for Parents in Year 5 and 6

Friday 19th May – Year 3 Parent Workshop 9.05am – Maths Focus

Saturday 20th May – First Holy Communions for both year 3 classes

Car Break Ins – I have been made aware by a neighbour of a man who has tried to break in to cars parked outside the school as children are dropped off and collected. He casually tries to open your car door and looks for valuables and belongings to remove before making off and on to the next car. Please ensure that you lock your cars and keep all valuables out of sight.

Attendance – Congratulations to Class 8 who had 100% attendance this week. Well Done Children!

2nd Place – Classes 1 and 6 – 99.14%

3rd Place – Class 2 – 98.33%

Sainsbury’s Voucher – Thank you to everyone who has sent in their vouchers. Sainsbury’s has stopped issuing them this week, but they can still be handed in. Please keep handing them in.

The Big Question – ” Can you ever really know what it’s like to be someone else?”

Peace in My Heart

Send your peace into my heart,O Lord,

that I may be contented

with your mercies of this day and confident

of your protection for this night;

and having forgiven others,

even as you forgive me,

may I go to my rest in peaceful trust

through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
