Headteacher’s Newsletter Friday 5th January 2018

A Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you had a blessed and enjoyable Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately it was with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Fr Tom Hewitt MSC this morning. He was a lovely man and and a wonderful priest who always enjoyed celebrating mass for the children. His winning smile and great sense of fun will be sorely missed. A special memorial assembly was held for him this morning which helped the children to have an understanding of his passing. May he rest in peace.

The word of the week is: GUIDANCE – We celebrate the great feast of the Epiphany this Sunday and remember how the star guided the wise men to the stable to worship the new born king. Where do you seek guidance in your life? How does God guide you?

Redevelopment of the School Field – There has been a delay of two weeks to the completion of the new MUGA pitch due to the bad weather and the Christmas holiday. Despite this I have been informed by the contractors that the tarmac is due to be laid on Monday next week and the rubber surface on Tuesday and Wednesday with the carpet on Thursday and Friday. If everything goes according to plan the new pitch will be ready for the children to use from Monday 15th January. It has been a very successful project so far and we look forward to the completion of the works. Please pray for good weather so that the works can be completed on time!

Netball Team News – Building on the success from last term, the school netball team have qualified for the new St Albans Schools’ Premier Netball Division. They will play against other local schools in the area who won their respective leagues. The final three matches will be played over the coming term to determine the overall winner. Good luck to everyone and congratulations to those who represented the school last term.

Future Dates – Monday 8th January – Assembly to celebrate the feast of the Epiphany 9:10am

Wednesday 10th January – Coding Club recommences 3:30pm

Wednesday 17th January – Year 5 Mass 2:00pm

Friday 2nd February – PTA Quiz Night 7:30pm

Tuesday 7th February – Young Voices Concert at the O2

Scooters – Please remember that ALL scooters need to be parked in the scooter bay in the playground at the back of the school and not outside the front office. Thank you.

The Big Question – “Can kindness change the world?”

Hold My Hand

As the rain hides the stars,
as the autumn mist hides the hills,
as the clouds veil the blue of the sky,
so the dark happenings of my lot
hide the shining of your face from me.
Yet, if I may hold your hand in the
darkness, it is enough. Since I know
that, though I may stumble in my
going, you do not fall.
