Headteacher’s Newsletter – 22nd September 2017

And so Friday comes around once more and we look back on another busy week. Fr TJ celebrated mass to welcome the new academic year on Wednesday, the Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher from our local Catholic secondary school – Nicholas Breakspear – spoke passionately to parents on Thursday morning and the school cross country team had their first outing of the season. The girls’ and boys’ football play their round of games next week and we wish them all the very best of luck. The Welcome Fayre takes place tomorrow afternoon at the Infant school between 12pm – 3pm and promises to be a lovely event. The weather forecast looks very encouraging too so please make every effort to attend. As the cold weather draws in please remember to send your child to school in full uniform. Please click on the link below for further information. I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow afternoon.

The Word of the week is – GENEROUS – The most precious gift of all to give to anyone is time. How generous are you with your time in helping those who really need it?

SicknessThere is a sickness / vomiting bug spreading through the school. It is important that children who have been affected by the bug are kept at home for 48 hours before returning to school. I have informed the cleaners of the situation and they will ensure that hard surfaces and door handles are wiped with the appropriate products over the weekend. Please keep your child at home for the full 48 hours.

Mass to celebrate the new academic year – Father TJ came to school on Wednesday morning to celebrate mass to welcome the beginning of the new academic year. We were joined by many parents and family friends for the celebration and the children were very reverent through out the service. The new Chaplaincy Team were installed and our new teachers were given a special blessing. Thank you to everyone who helped to it a special celebration.

Cross Country – Our Year 5 and 6 children gave a good account of themselves at the first race of the year on a wet and miserable Thursday afternoon. Both races had fields of over 100 runners and were very competitive. Congratulations to Arthur and Adelina who were the highest place finishers in both teams. We look forward to the next race in a couple of weeks’ time.

Welcome Fayre – Saturday 23rd September – 12.00pm – 3.00pm @ the Infant School- We look forward to welcoming many of you tomorrow to the Welcome Fayre. It promises to be a lovely event in support of both schools. There is something for everyone to enjoy so do make every effort to attend.

Exploring God’s World

Dear God,

The more I explore your world, the more

I marvel at your creation. It is a triumph

of science and engineering….and more than

that, it contains great mysteries that I am yet

to understand.
