Headteacher’s Newsletter 21st July 2016

We have arrived at the end of term with an opportunity to bask in glorious sunshine. I hope that it lasts for the full six week summer holiday! We say good bye to Year 6 tomorrow afternoon and wish them well in their new schools. They have had a wonderful couple of weeks that have led to this point. Last night’s Leavers’ Mass was an opportunity to say goodbye and to celebrate their successes and to look forward to the opportunities that await them in the future. Their last official event will be the Leavers’ assembly tomorrow morning. It has been another very successful year for the children and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking you all for your continued support. I wish each and everyone of you a happy and holy holiday and look forward to welcoming you back in September.

The words of the week are: Earthly Riches. The Pope tells us very clearly that ” is if we are too attracted to riches, we are not free and it is impossible to be truly happy. The Gospel invites us to be open to others, to share with the poor.”  Earthly riches do not bring true happiness, they do not matter to God. What other riches do we use which make us truly happy?

The Gathering: Sister Anita has organised a monthly gathering for our soon be to year 7s at the church.  This is a great way for them all to keep in touch as they will be going to different secondary schools.

Here are the dates up until December – all gatherings are in the church hall.

Sunday 18th September from 20:00 to 21:00

Sunday 16 October from 20:00 to 21:00

Sunday 13 November from 20:00 to 21:00

Sunday 11 December from 20:00 to 21:00

It will be a fun hour where there will be various games set up plus drinks and snacks available.

The Big Question: Is it ok to steal food if you are starving and living in poverty? What do you think? Why do you think it? Can you think of an example?

Attendance: The class with the best attendance for the whole academic year were Class 2 with 97.34%. Congratulations children.

1st – Class 2 – 97.06%

2nd – Class 1 – 97.06%

3rd – Class 7 97.02%

Goodbye: We say goodbye and thank you to Mrs Jefferey, Mrs Storey, Mrs Oatham, Mr Hancock and Miss Cannon tomorrow afternoon. We wish them all the very best in their new ventures; you will all be missed.

Moving On

A time to remember the good days.

A time to remember the bad days.

A time to cling on.

A time to move forward.

A time to say goodbye and thank you.
