Head’s Newsletter June 10th 2016

Our annual Sports Day took place today and the children were magnificent. Everyone competed hard and put in their best efforts for their respective house. Congratulations to the children of Luke who were this year’s winners. Thank you to the large number of parents and family members who came to support the event and a special thank you must be given to the staff for manning the stations and to Mrs King for organising the whole day.

This week’s word is ; SORRY. It takes courage to admit a mistake and even greater humility to say sorry. A school community is built on love and forgiveness and by asking for forgiveness we can begin again.

The half term has begun in earnest and there are many events planned over the coming weeks, see below for further details. During these warmer months please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school so that they are hydrated and on very sunny days they wear their school hat.

Sports Day: The weather held and the children were fantastic. Everyone competed fairly and the winners emerged victorious. After eight tiring events the children from Luke were this Year’s winners with a grand total of 410 points. Congratulations to everyone who took part and a special mention to Mrs King for organising a memorable event.

1st Place: Luke 410 points

2nd Place: Mark and John 390 points

3rd Place: Matthew 389 points

PE Kit: It has been brought to my attention that children are sharing PE kit for their lessons. Please may you ensure that your child has their own kit including trainers for PE lessons, even family members. This is an important issue of Health and Safety

Get Your Grown Ups Gardening: The next GYGUG takes place on Saturday 18th June from 10am through to 1pm. Please make every effort to attend to help brighten up the grounds. It would be fantastic to see a few parents from all year groups represented; all children are welcome too. Tea, coffee and pastries for all.

Open Evening: Our annual Open Evening takes place on Thursday 30th June from 3.30pm through to 7.00pm. Please note the change of time. We look forward to welcoming you for this important event.

Anglo – Saxon Day: The children from Year 4 had a wonderful day on Wednesday when the hall was transformed in to an Anglo – Saxon village for the day. They took part in a range of different activities that helped them to have a fuller understanding of this very important groups of invaders. Their dressed for the part and acted in role superbly. Thank you children for showing such enthusiasm in your learning.

Big Question: Is thinking you’re right the same as knowing you’re right?

Striving to be Better

To faith, let me add goodness;

to goodness, let me add knowledge;

to self-control, let me add endurance;

to endurance, let me add godliness;

to godliness, let me add affection for my brothers and sisters;

to affection, let me add love.
