Head’s Newsletter 9th September 2016

It has been a very busy week which started on Monday morning at assembly which was well attended by many new parents and culminated in Dodgeball sessions for each class on Friday! Our new Year 3 children have begun to settle in to their classes and new staff are beginning to get to grips with new systems. Beneath all of this energy and hubbub there is a quiet sense of calm around the building. You should have received a list of diary dates for the new academic year earlier in the week;  there will be events that will be added to the diary as and when they arise and we will communicate them to you in plenty of time. There is no assembly on Monday morning because the school photographer will be in from 8 o’clock.

The word of the week is CARE – How do we share that we care? Little acts of kindness can often mean so much. As Pope Francis tells us “Take care of God’s creation. But above all, take care of people in need. Let us care for one another.”

School Photographer – The school photographer will be taking individual photographs of children on Monday. If you would like a family photograph they will be in school from 8 o’clock. No need to book a time.

Running Club – The Running Club is looking for new coaches – are you able to help for an hour a week after school on a Tuesday? This very popular club is looking for new coaches to help the children to develop their running skills and improve their fitness levels. If you are interested in helping please speak to Mr Soyka as soon as possible.

School Bank – The school bank is open on Thursday mornings before school. This popular venture is a good way of teaching children about how to save. All new savers are welcome.

A Message from the PTA – PTA AGM – Thursday September 15th at 7.45pm at the Infant School.

Everyone welcome – it is never to late to get involved with the PTA! Please come along and find our more about what we do and how you can get involved. If you would like to join the committee please email ssaspta@gmail.com so you can be included in the nominations on the night.

Autumn Fair – Saturday September 24th from 12-3pm at the Infant School. A lot of work has already been done and we are now asking for volunteers to help on the day. We urgently need someone to lead the TOYS and BOOKS stall and the BAR. If no one steps forward soon then we will have to go ahead without these key areas – no soft toys and no beer!! Between them they raised over £800 last year so there will be a big impact on our total profit if we can’t include them. Running the bar involves setting up on the day and ensuring there is a rota of volunteers. All drinks will already be purchased. Toys and books involves more work as they need to be sorted in advance (usually done in the week leading up to the fair after drop off). There are people who can help with this but someone needs to take charge. If you can help please email the PTA  – ssaspta@gmail.com asap.

After School Club – The new after school club will commence on Monday 19th September and will run from 3.25pm through to 6.00pm. The cost for each child is £6 per session. Unfortunately the club is only open to children in the Junior School. A letter will be sent home on Monday with further details; please look out for it in your child’s book bag.

Data Collection Sheets – Please ensure that this document is returned to school as soon as possible. Thank you

Breakfast Club – Breakfast Club starts from 7.45am and is open to all children in the Junior School. Children are served a selection of toast, cereal, bacon sandwiches and juice. No need to book just drop in. Cost £3
