Dear Parents and Carers,

Over the past two weeks we have celebrated two beautiful liturgies and witnessed the children in Year 3 receive Jesus for the first time at their Holy Communion masses. It was very humbling to be a part of a very special moment in their lives. Thank you children for making the occasion so memorable. Remember the words of Fr Tom – KEEP IT UP!

I would to apologise for the confusion caused by the events that have surrounded Hockey Club over the past two weeks. The school had secured the services of a very experienced coach but unfortunately due to personal circumstances they have had to withdraw from running the club. We are working very hard to find a new coach. Further details will be sent out as soon as we have any news. Thank you for your understanding.

The word of the week is HELPER. Last Sunday we celebrated Pentecost and God sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper, to teach us and to be with us always. Please spend some time reading and exploring the Wednesday Word with your child which will help them to understand this mystery at their own level.

Year 3 Maths Workshop for Parents: Our last workshop of the year took place on Friday morning and was well attended by our Year 3 parents. They were introduced to the CPA method of teaching maths – Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract and were challenged in their own understanding of certain methods!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Maths and English workshops. We hope that you found them useful in supporting your child and learning the different methods they are taught.
Football News:On Saturday 7th May SAS football team took part in a tournament hosted by Colney Heath school  and played 5 matches. The first game was against Bowmans Green. Liam Watters scored in the second half but unfortunately they equalised and the game ended 1-1. The second game was against Colney Heath and after persistent efforts we scored two great goals, the score was 2-0 to us. We then played Oakwood. We had many opportunities although Oakwood scored the winning goal in the last minute. Next we played Fleetville, who scored 3 goals in the second half. Finally, we took on  Killigrew who won 2-0. Unfortunately we didn’t make it through to the finals but we came third in our group and enjoyed the experience.  By Henry and Liam
